Can imagine it can't you.....

Lorissa and Tarquin go round to Pippa and Ruperts house for Turkish Meze on a Saturday evening.Rupert deliberately leaves out his Michael Kinwanuka album cover. As Pippa and Rupert are getting drinks:

Lorissa: Oh god, look Tarquin. Rupert has a musical album by a young African man. Astonishing!

Tarquin: Well I'll be damned. You know, he's always been a bit out there that Tarquin. But this is too far. Music by an African!!??

Pippa and Rupert return.

Tarquin: Hey Roop's, what's with the ol' Umbungo music?

(They all laugh out loud)

Rupert: Oh well ya, jokes aside, y'know, just sort of reaching out to the diverse sounds from the world. Connecting with my links to the central bastion for human birth. Y' know, just keeping myself alive to throbbing beat of mother earth"

Tarquin: Woah...Ya man. Ya.

Agree Russ. Rest of the album is very middle class dinner party.

Friends by Francis and the Lights feat Bon Iver is an absolute gem of a track.

Re: Michael Kinwanuka
Another solo artist hyped to the hilt by the BBC and the press first time around, which resulted in the relative failure of his first album compared to previous Sound Of Poll winners.

The hysteria around this is equally baffling as it's just so average.

Black man in a white world is a class track. The rest of the album is utterly dull.

Re: Michael Kinwanuka
There are a couple of YouTube clips of his new stuff worth having a gander at, Cold Little Heart and Love & Hate, done in session, pretty good I'd say.

Re: Michael Kinwanuka
Same as branded I bought his album a few years ago, saw him at Clapham Calling Festival too and thought he was pretty good.

Re: Michael Kinwanuka
I heard him about 4 years ago and thought it lacked core song writing skills although I loved the mood.
I'll check his new stuff out.

Awight ray?
